October 14th, 2022 by

Fall is a great season to spend outside, no matter where you live. In Tyler, TX, it’s that time of year when the weather is warm but not too hot, and the outdoor activities and events start ramping up. There are many big events that take place in the fall. From agricultural fairs to the rose festival and several music events, there is something for everyone. Take a look at some fun events that are worth checking out.

Texas Rose Festival

The annual Texas Rose Festival starts on Oct. 13 and runs through Oct. 16. This festival first started in 1933 to represent the spirit of Tyler, TX. The event includes several ceremonial events, including the Queen’s Coronation, Ribbon Cutting and Rose Presentation, and the Queen’s Tea. The Rose Parade is another big event during this festival, and the 2022 event will mark the 89th year of celebration.

The Tyler Rose Museum on Rose Park drive is worth visiting any time of year, but it’s especially fun during the Texas Rose Festival. It was developed to display and preserve the history of Tyler’s rose industry. You can find Texas Rose Festival memorabilia in the museum, including some of the costumes worn throughout the years and many items collected since the first festival in 1933.

Some of the other events that will take place throughout the event include the following:

  • Texas Rose Festival men’s luncheon.
  • Texas Rose Festival ladies’ luncheon.
  • Pre-parade activities.
  • Ribbon cutting and morning prayer service.
  • Texas Rose Festival rose display.
  • Palette of roses art show and sale.
  • Rose festival arts and crafts fair.

Fall Family Fun Festival

If you have young kids, you can’t miss the Fall Family Fun Festival. It takes place on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 4-7 pm at the Glass Recreation Center. It will include all kinds of fun and activities for kids, such as face painting, jumpers, a costume contest, food trucks, and booths with candy and games.

2022 Troubadour Festival

The Troubadour Festival celebrates music and BBQs in one fun event. The Tyler event is on Saturday, Sept. 10, but if you miss that one, you can also catch the Celina event, which takes place on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Old Celina Park.

In Tyler, the lineup will include Gary Allan, Flatland Cavalry, Mike Ryan, The Steel Wools, and Chris Colston. The lineup of BBQ vendors is extensive. Some of the places where you can find your favorite foods include 1701 Barbecue, CM Smokehouse, Opie’s Barbecue, and Smiley’s Craft Barbecue.

In Celina, the music lineup will include Reckless Kelly, Randy Rogers Band, Wade Bowen, Muscadine Bloodline, and Chris Colston. You’ll also find many of the same food vendors at the Celina event.

Vintage Market Days

Vintage Market Days is an open-air market featuring over 115 vendors with vintage and vintage-inspired collections. The event runs from Nov. 11 through Nov. 13 at Pickers Pavilion on East North Street in Lindale, TX.

Vendors spend the weekend selling unique items that range from original art to clothing, handmade items, outdoor furnishings, jewelry, and home decor. This event is much more than a flea market. It’s an opportunity for vendors to showcase their talents and for shoppers to find unique items.

Rose City Fiesta

The Rose City Fiesta is an annual event that celebrates all things Hispanic and Latin American. It’s the largest and most diverse festival in the Tyler area, with music, dance performances, folk-art exhibits, activities for kids and adults, and educational booths.

The 2022 Rose City Fiesta will take place on Sunday, Sept. 18, at Bergfield Park from 12-4 pm. This fun event will feature a mariachi band, and there will be food trucks with a variety of Latin American food options, folklore dancers, and Aztec cultural dancers.

Rose City Music Festival

2022 will be the first year of the Rose City Music Festival. This new event features an exciting lineup of music acts, including Grammy award-winning Nelly and 2022 American Idol top five finisher Fritz Hager III, who is a Tyler native. You can also catch East Texas native country rocker Koe Wetzel.

This event gets started at 2 pm on Oct. 8 at 100 N. Broadway Ave., Tyler. The gates open at 2 pm and the show kicks off at 5:15 pm with Untold Story followed by Fritz Hager III.
